ok

went fishing yesterday and today

now this is the first time i have ever fished at range,

i normaly fish at 70-80 yards max

but this trip i had to fish at an avarage of 100+ yards

now as never doing this range befor i set up using my normal set up

3oz distance lead safty cliped up

coated braid bit stripped back for hook tieing

but on casting kept getting tangle round rig end

now i tried pva nugget on the hook and a stringer,

but still tangled 6 out of 10 casts,

now the only thing i did not try was bag (lead + hook+ bait all in bag)

as i forgot to bloody pick them up from shelf as i left.

right what do you long range guys do/use for range and not get tangles?

now i loved the long range stuff and wish to master it

cheers

i tend to have the drop of the lead half way down the rod (to the spigot) and use a small mesh bag to stop it tangling around the lead.

hope that helps

Helicopter rig helps pal. But my fave is a small PVA stick (about an inch max) that I thread onto my hooklink and sink the hook into - never had a tangle on that, even when chucking it out at range.

Sure that you will get loads of other advice here as well...

:gp: what he said  pva sticks are superb for this sort of thing.

The other thing you could do is add a anti tangle sleeve to your hook link, as im presuming this where the tangles are happening. These can be used on both heli rigs and lead clip arrangements

I know 100 + yards isn't casting to the horizon stuff....but sticks really reduce casting distances when lobbing further afield...
