just sitting here watching the mist and carp rolling all over the lake and everybody else still flat out sleeping. hard life being an angler lol.

Just got back from a stalking session. After finding a few mooching about i settled on a gap between some weed and a willow as the Carp milled back and forth. After having one enquiry the fish seemed to stop showing, then i noticed a fish sat in the weed so i dropped my bait on its nose
I was in  After a spirited battle including a it of nervousness with the weed i had it in the net. Scores on the doors 11lb 4ozs

Went to Spring Grange for a change today. http://www.springrangefisheries.co.uk/pages/about_us.html

Got there about 7:00 and set up. Fishing moving about and topping so chose a quite spot to myself.
Fished two rods on the bottom, with Bacon Grill and started feeding biscuits on the top for another rod later.

Had 6 Carp in all, 1 off the bottom and 5 off the top, one snapped 12lb Xline like it was string!

Fished a waggler a bit later on and caught some great looking Roach.

The venue used to have an awful reputation but the current owners have done a brilliant job on turning it around. They live on site which always helps.
They do good food, delivered to your peg, as well.

I'll be going back for sure.

doping a 48 hour session this weekend so will hopefully have a catfish to show ya if not a nice big fat car :)

06-07-2011, 09:25
morning all

did a 48 hour stint at soham, had blanked for the previous 100 hours down there..... and then banked a lovely 24lb 7oz simo - new PB too - monday morning at 7:45. nothing else until tuesday morning at 4:45, cracking 23lb 4oz mirror that took off like a speed train. until it hit dense weed. steady pressure saw her raise her head high and glide over that weed. thankfully. finally another mirror at 19lb, 9oz at 8:00.
:cool:proper chuffed to have got onto the banked, not blanked scoresheet!

until the next time

fancied a cheaky short session on the local day ticket water today. got out of bed at 3am...was in a pre loaded car for a 1 minute drive, and on the bank about 3.45, in the pouring rain....

was worth it, first one out in a pouring downpour, second also during torrential rainsrtorm....thank god for waterproofs! third one came out around 11am, and 13lb - lovely looking fella. all lovely coloured, shame the first one had some serious (aged) fin damage

was only 3 of us there today, new the rain would put them off.

it was only 10 hours, as other plans. but, got em feeding, and lots of movement. shame theres a match on there tomorrow or i'd have been back!

I'v been off here for a while with one thing and another going on getting ready for a new babys arrivle maybe this week. But I did manage to do 96 hrs on Fisherwick speci lake about a month ago. Its just over the road from the mother in-laws house so the wife could stop with them while I fished.

I took my camcorder along and did a vid that is about 40 mins long. And not full of fish. If I can get it uploaded I'l let you know but I'l keep this as short as possible.

A mate of mine had said as I was doing Mon-Fri I would have the 3 and half acre lake to myself and that there weren't many carp under 20lb. None of this turned out to be right

I got to the lake about midday monday and there were about 10 pegs taken. I set up in a quiet 'ish' corner where there were carp showing. The plan was to put out a bed of parti mix and sit on it for the week. Only one carp came out on Monday.

Tuesday there was about 13 people on the lake and only two carp came out. All from the same bloke that was using a bait boat. A BAIT BOAT ON A THREE AND A HALF ACRE LAKE And he wasn't the only one, at one point there were four guys on the same bank using them. But the one guy who knew the lake like the back of his hand ended up catching really well with maybe a dozen 20s over the week topped by a 27lb. So having a boat obviously works, but on a lake that size. I can see why they are used if a lake alous it, but I still wouldnt use one on a lake that size. Only if I was wanting to get over 100 yards.

Tuesday evening and the only pic Id got was this one on my rod tip.

Id been watching a bay where the wind had been blowing all day and carp had been showing too. Plus it was the only quiet looking place on the lake and with a chap next to me trying to cast under my rod tips with a method feeder I decided to move there. Put out a bed a pati mix again and one spot with just bollies.

Wednesday morning, finally my first run but it came up with a branch on the line and as the branch slid down the line and hit the fish and the hook pulled 5 mins later though another rod which I'd just chucked out in the night with a bag of rosehips on. 13lb mirror and alot of releaf.

I was dead for the rest of the day. Still the lake was busy but there was another little corner where the wind had been blowing so I moved again that evening. Stayed put this time till the end of the session. Had two more mirrors, a 15lb and this 16lb 6oz

I hiensight maybe i should have stayed on one peg for the week and waited for the carp to come in, as a guy using a bait boat though started catching 20s every evening from Wednesday. But most people that I saw or talked to had blanked and all said it was a dead hard water, especailly if you didn't have a boat. It wasn't excactly quiet either as there were diggers and truck digging out a lake next to me and on the Thursday a pump was started up pumping water out of the speci lake for spuds and it didn't stop at all and was still going when I left midday friday.

Well as some of you know i did last night on majestic pool. what a result i had landing one of only a max of 6 commons in the lake! i'm fairly positive this one is called there swirly common due to its scales. but well chuffed with it a new pb at 16lb 5oz.

Now its swirly side

Well done Kieran a pb is always great to manage :tu: the swirls on that common look as if some predator got hold of it when it was a lot smaller as that looks like scar tissue to me.
