Bait flavours (see thread Smelly Leads), Bait to match flavours (in small quantities), Two more rods (2.5 and 3.0) to make current sets up to 3 piece, Some more bling as in Bison s/s goalposts and s/s bank sticks for same and illuminated drop off bobbins with chains - I looked in the mirror and saw that time was short so decided to make my tackle not tarty but better looking than me (not hard btw  ). Total cost about 140 inc P&P. Taken up another extra job too  5 clients closed their door end of last month

well im probally on the wrong site for this but almost all the money ive spent over the last 6 months i would say has gone on general match-pleasure gear including new seat box, rods, reels and all the other junk needed in preperation to have a crack at some match fishing next year

even been to stapley today to look at a new pole which is going to dent my bank balance big time :(

Got myself a P reg Land Rover Discovery to use as a fishing bus. Got fed up of breaking my car, driving down rough roads with me, 2 mates and all our fishing gear. Decided it was time to get something that would take the punishment!

P.s - great in the snow too lol.

Haven't bought a thing for over two years now, apart from some boilies earlier in the year, as for kit, my old stuff works as good now as it did new, so I'm not changing, well loved and looked after. ;)

Ahhh!! a man with good taste, I've had an N reg for 10 years and thats 10 almost trouble free years, the odd bit of welding here and there, but she has been a goodun, and yes with the right boots on she'll take you anywhere.

My goodness what an achievement, quick tell Land Rover!

Everyone and his aunt round here has some sort of 4x4, and loads bought Disco's of varying ages / types, almost none still have them. The odd one still owned by commited Landy fans, who are good welders and great mechanics, but otherwise the dreaded oriental pick-up has crept into general ownership.
Wonder if it had anything to do with a certain celebrity Toyota pick up, shown here with its previous owners?

Amazingly my Fleabay account has totaled just short of 100 in the last month, and all but 30 ish, is riggy stuff.
God I hope her indoors doesnt see this. She has this permanent complaint, "you buy all this gear, but you dont go fishing!".
I wonder how often she wants me to go? Before the snow it was 3 times per week (just days). :?

The only indispensable new item I have bought recently is a thermal suit - the kind they use for walk in freezers, rated to -27 deg C - oh how I love the weather  :lmao: not.

Insignificant but necessary, bait - small quantities of lots of types - suits my flit arse approach to fishing when the buggers don't bite ;)

Probably the most scary costwise for size, are the various concentrated bait flavours - little buggers are not cheap :o but necessary to me (or my vanity even 8-) ) to do my smelly leads thing. I wonder how Aaron is getting along with them

Last year i bagged a trio of original 11ft 2.75 DAM Sumo Telerods on ebay, this year i bagged a trio of Daiwa Emblems (5000Ts), then i spied an original DAM AL Bivvy !, just could not resist that, recent i`ve bought a chest pack, and ive bought a set of Camo Weeeds carp rigs, the 20z size with sz 6 hooks, i`ve got one set rigged up on my 12ft 2.75 with a converted surface float so i,ve a pretty damm effective "Pussy" worm rig set up as a couple of waters im targetting this season has the odd big moggy prowling, although "Teles" are my first choice rods, i,ve got meself a n RDX Barbel rod and Iconix Centrepin for a session wth trad float gear, so so far is my neck gonna be stretched when my good lady sees what ive bin spending, ho hum

As an aside, I ordered it from Yately Angling - no post charge, and turned up recorded delivery the next day - great service.

Nope :lol4:

Just bought 1 split cane 12 ft 3 piece, 1 bamboo 12ft 3 piece, 2 x 9ft bamboo 3 piece and a 6ft 2 piece fibreglass spinning rod - 25. Now they all need some work except for the split cane one, but for 5 a piece for vintage rods :tu:
I am hoping the 12ft bamboo will complement my circa 1958 CAP reel - guess rod is early '60's. Needs new eyes (already being sorted ). The split cane is more a match rod, so hopefully go with my 5" centrepin, or if I'm lazy my Mitchell 305. Not sure what to do with the 2 other bamboos, as they need eyes aswell, but I do have an old Youngs Beaudex trout reel that may find a partner in one of them  The spinning rod I will use with one of those pushbutton closed faced reels for.....spinning
So now setup (or will soon be) for vintage and oldskool type events.......

Sean looks like your going to be busy getting those rods ready for some fishing.

Actually rod repair is not that much work, it's often hard just finding the appropriate bits for older rods, but those are probably the only ones that lend themselves to repair. I wouldn't attempt repair on my new new carp rods (Chub Outkast 3lb t/c 50mm butt ring) - that's what lifetime warranty is about.

On another tack, in the sixties/early seventies used to make most of my rods myself - ok mostly surf ones. Biggest was 18ft 1 piece fibreglass. Cast a 6 oz lead and 1 1/2 lb bait fish (mostly sardine) for a good 80-100 yards when coupled with my Penn 49a......Those were the days

I've just wasted 3.12 on some 14mm ID ceramic inserts  that I will probably never use..
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250544442491&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_500wt_897
Why???? Because that's what I used to make my travel 1 piece rods with. Lashed on with mono and no metal. Pass by a tree and they would bend and spring back. I don't need them now, but it's just nostalgia. Never seen them for sale here before.

although i'm a bit on the skint side at the moment i could'nt pass up some bargain NEW boots to keep my feet dry & warm in the colder weather on the banks
they are some HI-TECH Magnum police issue riot boots with a thinsulate thermal liner, they have toecaps for kicking ppl, leather uppers, the sides are a heavy duty nylon material so they are flexible at the ankle,

to be fair they are a bit stiff at the moment but i have a bog old pot of dubbin to run into the leather & i'm sure a bit of use they will be warm comfy best of all

5 ya cant pass that up can you, i have worn them a little today & they are defo warm & fairly comfortable!

i've bought some new line, i dont know what is rated as decent mono main line these days so i bought what i used to use & was rated good for the money & a decent allround line i have bought some 18lb daiwa sensor mono, two bulk spools

my other cheeky spend was on some stainless GOAL-POST buzz bars, they are some cheapo ebay specials so i hope they are ok :O/ i'm sure for the fishing i do they'll be fine though-just need to save for four adjustible banksticks now

so thats my spending done for a little while-just bait to get a better handle on-raiding the supermarket for some cheaper baits (cheers for the link/headsup about that crafty) i'll strech to oe pack of boilies for a session though

i have been given a link to a local chap that makes very good quality boilies & i know a chap that is catching on this guys baits & he does particles/peelts etc very cheap so when i pick some stuff up from the guy in the next few months & i get a carp on his boilies i'll pass the link on for fellow midland carpers, although he does post boilies too, both shelf & frozen, you have to by a minimum of 5kg but it works out about 6 a kg which i thought was pretty good

anyway 2pence :P
