new yr , new start.....off the mark...
The alarm clock sounded , 4.30 am. I must be mad ,as i heard the rain lash against the bedroom window.....i made my way down stairs, to where the gear was there waiting for me to load into the car...the syndi water was about a 20 minute drive from my house , so by the time i`d loaded the car it was pushing five am and i was off up the a50..
.i arrived at the water in darkness to find two cars parked up....damm, this wasnt what i needed to see to be honest. being as the water is barely two acres..i made my way over the little walk bridge over the stream that run along side the pool...I knew in my mind , that the swim i wanted to be in would be taken and at this time of yr the water was hard enough to fish ...Yes my prediction was right , i decided to head back to the car and make my way back to stoke...
Next stop my club water, by now i was considering going straight home as the rain started to come down heavy making driving hazardous..i arrived at the four acre club water at about 6 ish, the wind was blowing a hoolie from the north west, which added with the rain was making my decision to fish hard...i decided i aint going catch catch standing there , so the gear was unloaded and off to the sheltered bay i headed...
The first rod consisted of my favourite maxima combi rig at 11 inches, 1oz flat pear lead on a lead clip, with a single 16mm bottom hxb bait boilie bait , with a 3 bait stringer..this was cast to a silt patch which was close to a small patch of gravel. this bait placement was in a sheltered area off the far bank. the free bait was added at around 20 baits scattered around it..
The second rod, consisted of a 11 inch sinklink braid hooklink and again a single hxb boilie was attached to the dental floss hair on a wide gape hook.
this was then cast to a slightly deeper area in the centre of the lake...again a good handful of hxb boilies was added to the general area...
I now set about putting the aqua brolly up in the wind and driving rain, i eventually managed to peg the brolly down and sat there for a few moment to gain my composuer...boy did i need a brew i was cold ,wet and slightly fed up...i switched on the radio and tuned in talksport, to listen to the footie previews...
by now the wind was howling over the cricket pitch and into the back of my brolly...with me huddled underneath, supping on my brew trying to stay warm..
there was a slight lul in the weather the wind had seemed to drop a tad, which gave me a excuse to stretch my legs, id only been on my feet a matter of seconds, when the left hand rod was away, the result after a short battle was a nice golden mid double common.

mid double common....16mm hxb boilie....
i did my photo s and released the fish , it swam away strongly...i changed the rig as i felt the hook had slightly blunt on the capture of the fish re baited the hook and put the rig back on the spot....
i gave bling(john) a quick text, on which he gave me a quick bell in return, which went on for half a hr or more. the wind had picked back up again and i felt myself holdin the brolly in one hand and my phone in the other...then as i was speaking to john , a freak gust of wind hit the brolly full on and away it went 6 pegs to storms stix headed off up the field with me in chase, luckily i managed to catch it quickly and there was no damage.
i decided leave the brolly down whilst a finished off the conversation with john who was still on the phone laughin his tatters off.
by now the wind was blowing quite hard i thought id give it another hr or two then pack the gear away slowly...the hrs passed and to be honest nothing to report after, and a packed the gear and headed home.......
